WCAG 2.2 checklist
WCAG means Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. These checks catch most barriers. A checklist never replaces a full audit.
Keyboard first
Unplug the mouse. Tab through every page: focus must stay visible, never trap, and every task must complete. Menus, modals and date pickers fail here most.
Then the screen reader
Listen with NVDA or VoiceOver. Images need alt text, controls need names, headings and landmarks must map the page. If the announcement confuses you, it blocks users.
What sighted users meet
Check contrast at 4.5:1 for text, resize text to 200%, reflow at 320px width. Nothing should overlap, clip or vanish. Motion needs a pause control.
Forms and errors
Every field needs a visible label, errors must name the field and the fix, and nothing should time out without warning. Submit empty forms on purpose.
