Mobile app accessibility testing

Web checks do not cover native apps. iOS and Android carry their own patterns, and their own failures.

Screen readers behave differently

VoiceOver on iOS and TalkBack on Android move by swipe, not Tab. Reading order follows the accessibility tree, so a visually tidy screen can announce in chaos. Every control needs a name, a role and a useful hint.

Touch changes the rules

Targets need room: 44 by 44 points on iOS, 48 by 48 density-independent pixels on Android. Gestures need alternatives, since swipe and drag exclude some users. Test with one hand and with a switch device.

Text and display settings

Respect the system font size, bold text and high contrast settings. Layouts must survive large text without clipping, and landscape must not break the screen.

What we test with

VoiceOver and Xcode Accessibility Inspector on iOS; TalkBack and Android Accessibility Scanner on Android. Every finding is confirmed by hand on real devices before it reaches your report.
